Hi, I've been looking at an add for a computer systems technician which has been in the paper for at least a month now. The job calls for a high school diploma, 2 years of college or 2 years of equivalent job experience in the information technology or tech support environment, an eagerness to learn and knowledge of various Operating Systems and Servers. I meet some of the qualifications high school diploma, 1.5 years of college in computer science, a definite eagerness to learn and knowledge of half the OS and servers. (just some background info)
Anyways I was wondering how succesful my prospects would be of dangling a carrot and including in a cover sheet for my resume my willingness/desire to consider volunteering(or work at minimum wage) for 2 weeks to see if the company is satisfied with me and if I am able to perform the job. If I am unable to perform the job or if the company is unsatisfied then we leave it at that.
Is this something that would appeal to employers?
I'm really looking for answers/advice from someone who works in human resources or hires people as part of their job
