Can anyone offer advice? This is a quote from the portfolio requirements document...
"Your portfolio gives you an opportunity to display your ability to follow instructions accurately and provides us with insight into your problem-solving abilities... The portfolio should contain 10 to 12 pieces of your strongest work. It should contain mostly photographs; however, drawings/sketches, paintings and/or other artistic media, may be submitted as photographic prints. We are not looking for technical perfection. We are looking for artistic potential and the ability to take on a variety of subjects (i.e., portraits, landscapes, still life etc.)."
Those are the only details about what to include. Everything else in the document is either about what NOT to do or about the short essay I must include.
Anyways, this is the first time I’ve ever put together a portfolio and I’ve only ever showed my photos to a few people so I am pretty nervous about this. Based on Sheridan’s portfolio requirements that I posted, do any of you guys have any tips you could give me on how to put together my portfolio?
Also, it says it should contain mostly photographs, but can contain other media. Would it be more beneficial for me to stick to photographs so I can have a few more chances to show them what I am capable of in terms of photography? Or would it be better to throw in a couple of drawings and digital media so that I can prove to them that I have artistic potential in more than one area?
Any advice you guys have would be appreciate! Thanks.
