Applications error message on my K800i help

I have the K800i which has always been very reliable, but I tried to connect the phone to the pc with a usb data cable, when I connected the lead, it gave me options, I picked file transfer, the phone then turned off with a white screen, and then restarted, it had lost the usual theme that I had put on the phone and also now when I try to go into the applications menu, it shows "operation failed" and does that each time I try to go into the applications folder on the phone, I really wished I had not tried to conect the phone to the pc now :-(

Can anyone help with this.....
