APPLE USERS! - Why does my router slow down my iMac???

I recently hooked up a D-Link wireless router to my iMac so that I could get WiFi on my iPhone. After doing so, my internet connection on my iMac started to run extremely slow and in some instances timed out when attempting to load a web page. However, at the same time, my iPhone internet runs very well. Actually it runs way better than my iMac (which has a direct internet connection via ethernet).

Is there anything I can do or correct to solve this problem?!?!??!

maybe it is not compatible with the iMac or someone else is using or *hacked* into your connection causing it to slow it down or too many people have ordered or are using the internet provider service like : AT&T or COMCAST or Verizon....
