Apple iPod nano sync problem....?

Friends, my Apple iPod nano is not working properly. I lost my previous iTune set up, then i installed it again. Even i lost my all songs. But now whenever i connect my iPod to laptop, iTune shows my iPod status connected but it doesn't sync or add songs... Plz tell me my it is happening? What should i do with this problem.
