apple iphone file formats?

When you save a picture on an iphone, what does it save it as? for example on a LG it saves it as IMG###.jpg
or it may save it as photo500.jpg or something.
someone please help.
 
It does not ask you what to save it as, nor does it show you. The only way to find out is to take the photo and put it on your computer. But I do not know why you would need to know this.
 
it should save under your photos.. all you do is hit the photo tab on itunes and make a folder for just iphone pictures and than sync them on..
