Apple iphone 1st generation sim card question?

my friend has a Apple iphone 1st (2G) 2nd generation for sale. I have a att&t Samsung Eternity phone that has a "prepaid" 3g sim card.
Would i be able to use the "prepaid" 3g sim card in that type of Iphone?
