Apple 4th gen iPhone vs. HTC EVO 4G

I'm just curious to know who's jumping ship and trying the EVO 4G. I'm not on Contract with AT&T anymore and I'm really considering it, though I do want to try the new iPhone. $79.99 for unlimited everything plus no data cap is a steal. What do u guys think?

Sprint will charge extra for Wi-Fi tether on the EVO, just a heads up.

That said, I still believe even Sprint's network is better than AT&Trash

It's actually 79.99 + 10 for 4g...

But that's what I pay now for my service. I'm very interested in that phone, I'm convincing my friend to buy it for my own personal reasons. LOL

I keep saying I'm gonna switch, but I highly doubt I will. I'm happy with my iPhone. Easily the best phone I've owned. It's jailbroken, but the only things I use on it are Winterboard with iHero theme by Jason Calhoun, Kirikae, and BiteSMS. Everything else is standard apps like Facebook and Echofon (Twitter).

I love my iPhone I'm just tired of At&t. I drop so many calls it's not even funny. I think I'll try the Evo because I've never had a problem with sprints network, just their horrible selection of phones, though it's getting better. Now I've played with Android and it's pretty cool. Not as polished as the iPhone OS but it's still pretty cool. I had to give that up because I didnt like Verizon. Time shall tell. That new iPhone sounds tempting, I just wish they would have made the screen bigger instead of shrinking it. Now im not bashing AT&T's network. It's great and fast for web usage, but phone calls are a diff story.

Doesn't look shrunk to me. From the side-by-side comparisons it looks to be exactly the same size, just higher pixel density. That said, the EVO's 4.3" display has a lot of appeal.

looking at the comparison it didnt look smaller to me Either XFF but Gizmodo claims it's a tad smaller. Not sure how true that is, but yeah that EVO's screen is looking pretty nice.

It surely looks tempting and I think it'll be Sprints saving grace.

Don't think I'll jump, but I'm definitely interested to see how things turn out competitively speaking with Apple especially.

Hopefully, Android/VZW/Sprint is making Apple/AT&T think SERIOUSLY about being competitive!!!

It certainly is setting a precedent that's hard for ANY phone to follow.

Some how I think that front facing camera will be the new iPhones saving grace.

At the same time I do believe that Apple is somehow losing touch with the market. Seems like your atypical reach the top and then rest on your laurels type scenario.

Sigh...

So the EVO is running the 1ghz chip and the big high rez screen.

The iPhone 4 is running the 1ghz A4 chip and we don't know what screen rez it is, but my guess is 4x current gen to keep compatability with all the apps on the market right now.

The EVO will be badass for sure. But is it leaps and bounds ahead of the new iPhone? We don't know yet. I'd personally prefer Android, but I've really gotten used to the seemless experience of my iPhone.

I have been studying everything about the EVO and the next gen iPhone, too.. I am very tempted to jump ship and go to Sprint for the EVO for these reasons:
The 4G. AT&T doesn't have it. The Evo will, although I'm not sure if my house will receive it. I checked the sprint coverage map and my house is right on the very edge!
That giant screen on the Evo! The next iPhone has the same sized screen as the previous versions from what I can tell, although it should be a much greater resolution which is about time. But that doesn't make up for the size. The evo will have both a giant and HD screen.
The pricing is a little better for all that you get by getting the Evo on Sprint. I won't pay an extra $30 a month for the hotspot app though. I hope that there will be a way to get that done for free on Android though. I don't know.
The 8 mp camera on the evo is a very big bonus with HD video recording as well. The iPhone should record HD, too, though. The video recording from my current iPhone 3GS is excellent and it should only be better on the version. Both phones will have a front facing camera. Not sure if At&t can handle video chatting though, so Sprint's 4G should definitely have the advantage there. Both phones will have a flash, too.
Sprint everything plans with pretty much unlimited talk (by being able to talk to any other cell phones unlimited) is a huge bonus. My wife loves to talk and usually gets close to going over our allotted minutes on our iPhones.
Evo has a kickstand, iPhone won't.
Evo has an HDMI output, iPhone won't.
Evo has an SD card, iPhone won't.

Now I'm concerned about syncing to my iMac though, not sure that will be an issue though. Probably not. I know it won't be nearly as smooth as syncing my iPhone to my iMac though.
Oh yeah, how would I get my music from iTunes to the evo??
Anyway, many things to consider, plus the early termination fees for 2 iPhones on our family plan. And connection fees from sprint for 2 new Evo's. I wait until apple announces the next iPhone to make a decision. Sprint does give you 30 days to try it out and they will not charge you for anything if you decide to return it. Ok I'm done now. Thanks.

Awe... Decisions, decisions... I am an iPhone die hard BUT the EVO is one sexy masterpiece of technology! It's like someone literally wrote down the dream spec sheet on a piece of paper, handed it to R&D at HTC and POOF! Out comes the EVO!!!

The seamlessness and UI of the iPhone is number one (by far) in my humble opinion... But the orgasmic spec sheet and SIZE of the EVO is really making me consider jumping ship... To me it's the most exciting phone that's come out since the original iPhone itself. The anticipation has been killing me! lol

Now that I've settled down and gotten over the euphoria of the EVO, I plan on waiting to play with both the next gen iPhone and the EVO before making my decision...

Very good chance I may be moving on though... I've been iPhoning since day one and am thinking about moving on... Not to mention AT&T SUCKS!!!
