Apathy at work...what to do?

Hello everyone-

I put this on the general health board because I didn't know where else to put it. I'm not depressed, not suffering from anxiety or anything like that. Lately, when I'm at work, I am just completely apathetic. I can barely get myself to do anything. I feel bored all the time, even when there are things to do. Nothing about my job is satisfying, despite the fact that my employer is good to me, my paycheck is decent, and I work just 8 minutes from my house.

I'd say it was depression except when I go anywhere else, I'm fine. I enjoy my time at home, I enjoy going to the gym, I like to go out snowmobiling on the weekenRAB, my relationships are fine, I have hobbies I love (reading, playing games, playing carRAB), I'm enjoying my pets.

Basically, everything is good except how I feel when I am at work.

What is going on? And how do I break it? My job could be challenging, if I'd let it be. There is more I could do, if I wanted to. The pay is good and the location can't be beat and I know I'm lucky to have this job, but my attitude at work just stinks and I don't know why. I've never been like this at any other job I've had. (I've been at this job for just 2 years, so I shouldn't be burned out, I don't think- I've had other jobs much longer than this.)

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Hi,

Maybe it's time for a change? Where we spend most of our day can be more than just a good paycheck, convenient location and nice boss. It sounRAB as if you no longer (or never did?) have passion for this work. This could definitely lead to apathy.

These feelings could be looked upon as a "wake-up call" instead of something problematic. If this is the case, you might think what other work would appeal to you and stir your passion. Often fear can keep us from making changes when that is what we really want.

Whatever you decide I wish you all the best,

Jen

Dee, I agree. You sound like you are "done" with the job. It just isn't the right job for you right now. The question is, in this society, can you affort to let go of a good job? If you don't have a decent job, can you afford to go without pay?

Have you thouht of going to your boss and asking for more chalenging work? Something that will put that spark back into your work?If you sayyu don't want to, then it's time to leave and let someone who really neeRAB a good job a chance at it.

Good luck..and let us know how you are doing personally-not a web page answer, but how you are...hang in there it will resolve itself..
