I really like the yahoo chat room setup and how the IM platform works. But over the last few years it's become nothing but a hassle. The spam bots have literally taken over most of the chat rooms. I have found only a handful of rooms left that actually have more actual people than bots.
Yahoo added in a cryptic log in for each room a while back that was suppose to eliminate the automated spam bots, but that hasn't worked at all and is now nothing more than a pain in the butt for the actual users.
Yahoo eliminated the user generated rooms years ago which in essence has forced all these same spam bots and pervs into the general rooms. My understanding is they stopped the user generated rooms due to the sexual nature of them and claimed it was a haven for pedos. Well, now the pedos are everywhere instead of just in those user generated adult rooms. Nice going yahoo!
So basically I'm asking, are there any other chat communities out there along the lines of what Yahoo used to be? So far I haven't had much luck. I don't like the way MSN is set up and other chat rooms I've found so far are a complete mess to deal with.
