Anyone with experience in breathing retraining?

I'm looking for someone who has had success with retraining their breathing. For about a year and half now I have suffered from a large strange set of symptoms, which have gone undiagnosed after many doctor visits. I have had breathing difficulty, abdominal discomfort, dizziness, shakiness, nervousness, tension and more. There doesn't seem to be a particular trigger to the onset of the sysmptoms, but they are there almost all day and seem to wax and wane in severity. It's hard to explain, but I never quite feel normal and more often than not have to stop what im doing because of dizziness/lightheadedness. I believe this all to be a result of a breathing disorder. I've had chest x-rays, with no conclusion and my doctor on a number of occasions has suggested maybe I'm hyperventalating, but I've always shrugged it off in the past, because I thought there was something much worse going on. I believe my breathing is completely out of rythm as I often find myself holding my breath and it seems like I inhale way more than I exhale. Kind of like one count in half count out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this and see if it helps..... lie in a comfortable place, flat on your back. Inhale taking the breath into your stomach or as deeply as you can. this is using your diaphram to draw in the breath. then gradually release the breath, breathing out as much as you can. Do this comfortably, so no strain is involved. Build up day by day - start with about 5 on the first day, or whatever you can manage. And relax as much as you can while you are doing this. If you get irregular breathing or tension as you go about your day, try the above and see how you feel. Hope it helps, let me know.
