HI Ness! I really need a plan. Maybe you could help me. Should I make an appointment with a natural path doc and a gastro doc? Should I see one or he other or both? I will do anything to work out a plan. I have been miserable today ALL day! I am blaming the spaghetti sauce from last night. I work up with mucus in my throat and it felt so swollen in there. I know it just has to be silent reflux. I watched pretty closely all days and ate carefully and fairly small. All I have had to drink is water hot and cold. The gunk is here tonight too. I will take my 3rd Prilosec right now. I know that is not enough to even feel better yet. But I want to figure out how not to have flare ups. I feel like I have trouble breathing easy. It mimicks asthma for sure. Help! Thanks!

Anyone have this horrible, life altering disease I want to hear from you. Please share your stories here with me. I need to know I am not the only one suffering.
I am a 34 year old female diagnosed one year ago.
Can you live a full life with EE? Is this a death sentence? I am so scared and at my wits end!
I have been unable to eat soliRAB for about 4 years, mainly living on creamy fooRAB, soups, sometimes crackers when I am able to tolerate swallowing them.
I finally found a gastroenterologist who genuinely cares and he did an endoscopy and found I had EE. Will I ever be able to eat normally again?
I have no insurance and can't go back to see him right now. I went on almost 5 years suffering before he finally diagnosed me. He gave me a Flovent inhaler that I have used up long ago and can't afford to go see him to get another one.
I also get this horrible bloating, raw feeling in my stomach and right around my belly button area as if my insides are just raw and inflamed, I have a constant burning, gnawing feeling in my stomach constantly too. When my stomach feels raw inside like it does today I can't eat or drink anything that doesn't make it feel worse. It seems like it gets worse right before and lasts to a few days after my menstrual cycle.
What can I eat to supplement my diet to make sure I'm getting all of the vitamins I need. I eat a lot of dairy, yogurt, cottage cheese, creamy soups like Tomato mostly, sometimes crackers but they get stuck so usually not, ice cream, cream of wheat...anything soft and will go down easily.

hi TEd sorry you are having a bad time.........i had a huge flare of gallbladder issues for two days and hardly ate on xmas day cause i felt so sick, luckly today i feel better.....

i can tell you my experience with alternative healers....first you need to find a good one who has had years of expereince and are interested in digestive disorders..........search out you local area and check out people who also have websites so you can get more info and ask everyone you know if they can reccomend one..............the guy im seeing has had twenty years expereince, has numerous testing that doctors dont have, things like blood anyalis so you see your blood on the screen very cool, lets you know about your ammune system all sorts of stuff, all sorts of tests..............they also spend a good hour and half for he first consult and go through everything, give you and examination etc..........this guy did also not try to get me of the PPi as hes not against drugs, he said you need to go by how you feel, if i start to feel better and better then i can slowly come of them..........but im getting my gallblader out for sure i think it is really unmendable.........
also make sure they can make up formulas speciffically for you ie they mix up tintures mine has about five things in it i think in a large bottle and i take 5mls three times a day..

there are great herbal medicnes out there and herbal natropaths no what to give and how much etc................this guy also new more about the body and digestive system than most doctors!!!! Im not going of PPI until i get my gallbadder out, my LPR has been great i must say... no coughing no muscus at all, no sore throat blah blah.......

the natropath also said that all of my stomach issues including LPR were from my gallblader i do hope so!!!

I think that it is improtant to do both!! go get your tests done from the gastro specilist to rule out things and find a great natropath who specilises in herbal medicine and digestive issues............you want to make sure that you have enough medical info to help the natropath as well.........my natropath rung the hospital and got my cat scan results faxed through then and there.............he read them through and understood them complety explainig them to me!!!!..........anyway i have nothing but positives so far even just from this guys personality, disire to help, medical and herbal knowledge and great herbal formulas.............i say if you want to then go for it!!! ness

oh and most natropaths no about asthma etc as well and also make sure they are honest with what they can help with.............this guy said that i may well need to get my gallbladder out as he may not be able to fix it......its in bad shape.....but he said to book in for the operation and im seeing him on the 20th Jan he said he would no by then if it was helping to heal my GB or not...........the thing is if i get it my GB out he is still able to help me get my body back into balance afterwarRAB.....

Hey there, I too have eosinophilic esophagitis. I also have horrible horrible reflux as well. Ive had this for about 3 years now and it is pure hell and a half. I can't eat anything solid as my throat is so burned I cant get anything down it hurts like torture. I fear for my future and scared as well as i know there is no cure for this. I have not had any sort of life in about 3 years because of this illness I have. So yes you are not alone, know that i do understand and i hope you feel better soon

Oh dear gal I am one year younger than you and I know how hard it is to have such serious problems at such a young age!! Do you have any other health issues--irritable bowel, fibro, female problems?? SounRAB like you are eating a lot of dairy and carbs, though I know you are limited in what you can get down and you can't starve. The dairy and tomato soup doesn't bother you?

Am 38 and was diagnosed with EE two years ago. Prior to that I thought I was going crazy and was just not chewing my food enough as had a very sudden onset of food compacting in my throat about two months after the birth of my first child (in also had very bad reflux in the final month of this pregnancy) which was two years before being diagnosed. My GP sent me for a barium swallow which came back normal as I had to swallow marshmellows (which I could have told them wasn't going to be a problem, I should have told them to ask me to eat a McDonald's cheeseburger and then they would have seen a real problem). Finally after a trip to the emergency department my doctor referred me to an ear, nose and throat specialist who diagosided me with EE after listening to my symptoms for about two minutes. It was such a relief to be told my condition had a name and that other people had the same condition. However he basically told me to stop eating bread and meat for the rest of my life which I found very depressing and also prescribed Flovent. I still wasn't very happy as was then breastfeeding my second child and even though was adviced that the risk of any of the steroiRAB from the Flovent being passed to my baby were minimal I didn't want to take the risk. So after continuing to put up with the condition for another six months had another bad attack and had to call and arabulance to come and get me as I was at home with two children while my husband at work so couldn't drive myself to hospital. I decided to get a second opinion and found a specialist who basically confirmed what my first specialist had told me but in a much nicer less final way. He also gave me a FANTASTIC tip that has been a lifesaver and that is to drink carbonated drinks when you eat. I don't know why, but it works. It seems to have something to do with the bubbles. My specialist said that he has a nuraber of patients who drank Coke when they ate or got food suck but I have found that there are too many bubbles in Coke so prefer mineral water plus it doesn't have any sugar but anything works Sprite, Fanta etc. I feel much more relaxed when I eat out now as if I forget what I am doing and eat two mouthfuls too quickly I recognise the signs and take a sip of mineral water and can feel the food pass before it impacts and gets stuck. I am much better at recognising what I can and can't eat and haven't eliminated anything yet but am just careful with the things that I know cause problems such as white, soft or crunching bread, sushi, meat etc and eat very small mouthfuls. I am thinking of trying a gluten free diet as am interested to see if it makes a difference but can't give up meat however I know what cuts I can eat in very small well chewed peices eg chicken leg is OK but breast is a banned, red meat that is very tender or marbled with fat is OK but well done and tuff is definalty off the menu.

I also now know that half my problem is anxiety. As soon as I swallow a mouthful that I know if too big or the wrong type of food and can feel the sensation of food getting stuck, I start to tense up and that makes the problem worse so having a carbonated drink close by is my safety net. It doesn't always work and when I do have an attack that mineral water won't shift I have to remove myself from the situation and calm myself down and usually try to induce vomiting to get it unstuck (horrible especially if you are out) and then try very small sips of mineral water. I am scared but have learnt to live with EE a bit better now. I am thinking of trying Flovent again but find it depressing that I will have to take it for the rest of my life but as my Doctor said many people have to take different medications for their entire lives. I do have the usual correlation with childhood asthma but have not had an attack since about the age of 12 and hayfever (I have always been a sneezer). I have had a skin prick test done and the main allogen was housedust which horrified me as I have a very clean house but the Doctor said that it could have been from our carpet so we have gone back to floorboarRAB but I still have EE. It is such a mysterious illness especially as its onset was so sudden and out of the blue.

I also have Esophilic Esophagitis. I am 25 years old, I think I've had it for 10 years now. I can't swallow much unless I water it down with gravy or broth or if I take small bites. I thought it was normal until one day some bread stuck in my throat. I figured if I went to bed and woke up it would be gone. It wasn't. That was 3 years ago and now they named it. I went to an allergist and he too, couldn't tell me anything useful, I've tried everything. It has to be something with food allergys. It sucks! I'm allergic to all fruits except berries, most sauces, all nuts, etc. Alot of things I can swallow I'm allergic and the fooRAB I can have won't go down, it's great
I feel better knowing I'm not the only person.

Wow! I have never heard of this one before. Sorry to hear you all are suffering with this. Today I feel like I have that. My acid reflux is out of control. I could barely eat anything at Christmas dinner. My throat is swollen with lots of mucus. My voice is husky from clearing it all the time. I have to watch everything that goes into my mouth. I have tons of allergies to medicines, fooRAB and invironmently. It stinks. I have alot of fear in my life because of this. It causes me stress and the cycle continues. I am 30 pounRAB overweight so by changing my diet I intend to get it off.

Is there a cure for EE? I sure hope so. What are all the symptoms and how do you get tested for it?
