ok well ive been helpin my bro fix up this junker he bought. well we got ripped off it was only supposed to be the water pump but theres madnes wrong with it. well we thought we had it all good so we went for a test run well weve discovered theres an oil leak and we dont know where. the oil pan gasket was put on correctly, everything was tourqued to the books specs and we just dont know. hes a mechanic but he cant do it tomorow im pulling off the stater and oil pan so i can get a look at the bottom end of the pistons. now when we took it for a run it was kinda this slapping sound and no it wasnt piston slap we think it was the rods on the head making the rattling then just as we made it home we were damn lucky checked the oil we were literaly empty. me and him are both completley puzzled by this. we checked everything. it all appeared to be good but theres gotta be something were missing. anyone whose got a long time of experiance can you please give me advice. like me i was just thinking when we got it and pulled the head off there was a pretty damn large hole in the piston closest to the front we pulled it apart tho and when we emptied the oil pan the 1st time we found more metal in there then there ever should be in a messed up vehicle. is it possible that metal that could have possibly shot thru the air, and or oil lines and smashed a hole in something? do you think i could find it by pulling the oil pan off? please help me
