You might want to watch the first three seasons of Slayers, before watching Slayers Revolution, it's a good series, but it's more of an adventure comedy, than a full on action series, but the original light novels are more serious than the anime, but still Slayers is a good series, and I'll throw in Lost Universe (it's basically Slayers in space, and it's written by the same people)
