Anyone use VLC media player?

I'm wondering, is there any way that I can play a movie without it showing up in "open recent" (without deleting the whole recent activity)? Will a movie stay in "recent" until you clear menu, or can it go away by itself? Thank you so much.
Under File is "open recent"
