I'm a snap-on/mac/craftsman guy and don't currently have any S&K's in my collection, but I was thinking of adding a set of long reach hex bits. Thoughts, comments? Thanks
I been using S&K tools for the past 20yrs and they are equivalent to snap-on in quality but are cheaper in price. I love S&K wrenches, they are super tough and easy on the hands.
Sherman Klowe is in Chicago and makes all their tools locally. I sold them a forging system for combination wrenches and the staff is a great bunch of guys.
Not always the cutting edge I gotta have this nifty new advertised gimmick tool but it's all well made and from good alloys that have an excellent grain microstructure after heat treating. It's a small point but their plating is a very critical operation that pays off well as it won't flake off leaving sharp edges like half of the snap on I have.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy a set of this and that from them.
SK is actually in quite a bit of financial trouble right now. The company is not doing well at all. From my experience as a mechanic for the most part they are ok...I like their wrenches and impact sockets, but their chrome sockets suck. I swear I cracked about 3 of them a week...
Years ago really great stuff and good bang for the buck.. Quality has dropped off in the last few years. But going against the Chinese Mfg'ers who isn't..
