I've recently been prescribed Cypralex to work along with cognitive behaviour therapy and counselling. I'm just on a the 5mg to start out with for the first month as the Doctor says it has a pretty harsh start up cycle. After doing a bit of research online though, it seems like people have more bad things to say about this product than good things. My doctor picked Cypralex because he says it's quitea bit safer than comparable drugs, and less likely to cause addiction. Just wondering if anyone here has used Cypralex - and their experiences with it. I don't particularliy want to get used to useing something thats going to cause more problems than it's worth.

Yes, I have taken Cipralex, also know as Lexapro. It is similar in action to all the other SSRI class of antidepressants. And actually, Lexapro is the same active compound found in Celexa. 10 mg/day is usually the maintenance dose. I found it to work well and in basically the same way as Zoloft and Paxil. In reality it is going to have much of the same side effects and withdrawal or

I just saw a complaint for Cipralex specifically, it seemed that alot of people developed arthritis and other joint problems while on it. Depending on my body for work, makes me a little leary. The other side affects really don't seem to be that big of a deal. But checking out Lexipro/and the other trade names - none of them seem to have the same complaints.

That is why you cannot place too much significance in what you read, unless it is fact based, like written in a medical journal or articles written by medical researchers. And even then, it is not guaranteed not to be somewhat biased. Cipralex, Escitalopram and Lexapro are all exactly the same drug. People will argue to the end that Cipralex was a horrible drug for them and then say they loved Lexapro. The only drugs that I have ever read about that can actually be linked to arthritis are certain drugs used to treat thyroid conditions, heart conditions and immune system disorders. There are legitimate side effects from antidepressants, but I don’t believe developing arthritis is one of them.
