Curious if anyone with a de-branded T-Mobile 5230 (RM-593) has done the upgrade to the 20.8.7 firmware? It looks like there's no generic build, just ones for DAVE Wireless, Cincinnati Bell, and Videotron.

I read a short report of someone who used the Cincinnati Bell firmware, but it didn't go into too much detail, just said that the startup logo changed to a CB one and the GPS seemed to work better.

Some other people with phones that have naturally picked up this update have reported other changes which would be interesting to check out, but I'm not sure how much branding would come along with a switch to a DAVE, CB or Videotron firmware.

I successfully updated to 20.8.7 using the cincinnati bell firmware about a week ago. outside of showing a cincinnati bell splash screen at startup/shutdown, and having some cinn. bell specific internet/mms settings that i had to modify, i notice no other branding. it's essentially an unbranded firmware as far as i am concerned.

the changes i've noticed are as follows:
-web browser goes auto fullscreen
-kinetic scrolling in main menu
-shazam is built in
-vibration level 1 is higher than level 2 (bug)

I also kept running into an issue in firmware v12 where the email notification plugin would disappear from the homescreen, requiring a hard reset to get it back. so far i have not run into this issue in firmware v20

The "Country" one?? Don't know any details on that.

I grabbed the DAVE version and cooked it to take out the Mobilicity startup/shutdown - as antipasta said, other than that and some operator-specific settings, it's pretty generic.
