Anyone remember 'The Mole'?

The game show on channel 5. It involved contestants doing tasks to win prize money but someone had to ruin it but by being discreet. It was great.

Anyone know where I can watch it again? Did other countries do it?

Australia was the country that stick with it the longest with 6 series i think.

The USA also had 5 and revived the show for a 1 off during the actors strike a couple of years back.

Challenge, Player (now Bravo 2) and Bravo have all shown US series in the past.

I remember it well, and I was only like 10 when it aired.

Only watched the first series mind, did it not air on a Friday night back then?

I managed to find the series and watched it back a year or so ago, just a brilliant series, so well done, and the reveal show after was great too.

God TV as a 10 year old was good back then :(

I really liked that show, drove me mad as I could never spot the mole, but loved trying to figure it out. Wish it had lasted a bit longer then 2 series.

The mole was excellent. Only saw the first series, it was pretty clever. Remember in the last episode where they revealled where the clues were to spot the mole. Remember the Buxton water being used as the Mole's last name was Buxton.

I hold the dubious position in our house of correctly picking who was the mole in both series within about five minutes in both first episodes.

I think I must be either incredibly lucky or just very suspicious:D

Ha yes I remember it, I really enjoyed it at the time. Do you remember that way they sorted out who would be eliminated at the end of the show. They typed the contestants name into a laptop, if the screen went green they were okay, if red they were out.

I think the show would been more of a success if it was on BBC, ITV or Channel 4. I think in all honesty channel 5 didn't really have the resources to give the show the production values it deserved.

I loved it, I've got all of series 2 on VHS at home I believe, I give them a watch occasionally, nowhere near as fun knowing who the mole is though.

It was a not to be missed in this house. We loved it. When you think of the crap 5 kept, and bought later on, its not just unbelievable they didn't keep it, but downright criminal.

I too thought it was brilliant.

It got a very ropey press, as they classed it as a 'reality' show, but wanted crap like Big Brother.
The press couldn't cope with a reality show in which the contestants had to use their brains.

I recall just the 2 series?

The best task was when they were taken to a Channel Island and one contestant was given a crash course in interrogation, then had to interrogate his fellows.

I think it was originally an American show?

It's been running in The NetherlanRAB for 10 years now.
In the beginning the contestants were "normal" people and I liked it.
Later on they were replaced by celebs and I lost interest.
It's still my mum's favourite show.

The Mole was an american show originally I think, they made several series over there, including celebrity versions. I think the most recent series in the US was last year. Stephen Baldwin andCorbin Bernsen I remember seeing in a series set in Hawaii, they were both nuts! :o

eta: out of curiosity, I looked it up on wiki, and actually it was originally a Belgian show apparently!

I really enjoyed it when it was originally shown. I posted a thread about it (quite a long) while ago, wondering what happened to it. I think there was a view that it was too expensive to make, especially as you are relying on the mole (an ordinary member of the public) to fulfil their role right through the series. If it all went wrong towarRAB the end you'd have wasted a huge amount on an unusable series.

Having said that, other countries carried on with it. Maybe it's just UK producers' nerves!

well, the only country still showing it is the netherlanRAB, it seems most places showed four or five series at most. The US only did two regular series, followed by three celebrity series. It was then axed for several years, coming back for a normal series last year (which though quite good got low viewing figures), and was then axed again.
