I have this worksheet that's all about what lead up to the Civil War. I can't find some of the answers in my book, so I was wondering if someone might be able to help me out...

1) In the Presidential election of 1860, the four candidates were Stephen A. Douglas, John C. Breckinridge, John Bell, and Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln won with only _______ percent of the popular vote, but he received 39 percent of the electoral vote. His election was a clear signal to the South that their _______ and their _______ were in grave danger.

2) Horace Greeley, founder of the New York Tribune, wrote "___________." Meanwhile, Lincoln sat quietly in waiting, unable to do anything until he was inaugurated in March.

3) Dred Scott was a black man who was born a slave in _______ and raised in Missouri. In 1834, his master took him to the free state of Illinois, then to the free Wisconsin Territory, and then back to Missouri. In 1834, Scott sued for his freedom.

4) Hinton Rowan Helper wrote a book called __________. He felt that the South should ________ slavery and ___________.

Can anyone fill in the blanks? Some of them may be multiple words. Thanks in advance!!!!
