I have been on all kinRAB of PPIs for about 6 years. Rarely do I have "heartburn" but I have chest pain and stomach discomfort (bloating, gassy feeling, etc.) ALL the time. My initial instinct is that the PPI is reducing my stomach acid so that I am not completely digesting food and this causes excess, reflux of non-acid material, etc.
Has anyone found a way to balance the positive symptom relieving effects of a PPI with some other discomfort it may cause?
I have recently tried opening the Nexium and pouring out a little of the medicine but not sure if that is helping at all.
