Anyone know why Verizon wireless is forcing us all to get data plans on all cell phones?

I want to get the Chocolate touch which does not really benefit from having a data plan yet Verizon now requires thier phones to have data plans. I've been with Verizon for like almost 10 years now and never had a problem. Now I feel like the company I love is screwing me.
 
In order to make up lost revenue on lowering voice plans, verizon is making data plans higher. They want you to realize the "full potential" of your phone, but who wants to pay more money???
 
Yeah cause they suck. They are actually compensating for lost revenue on their new cheaper calling plans, so they are getting their money back with the data charges, they claim that they are trying to get people to realize the full potential of their mobile device, sounds shady to me.
 
If you like Verizon so much go to Wal Mart and check out straight talk or go on line,it's on the Verizon net work and you don't need a contract. they have 2 plans the best one is 45 Unlimited all
