Anyone know anything about disc brakes on mountain bikes?

i recently bought a new mountain bike because there are a lot of great deals going on this time of year. I have never had a bike with disc brakes but have heard how great they are. This new bikes front brake kind of makes a rubbing/squeaking noise. It is only detectable when going slow and doesnt effect my performance at all. should i be worried about this noise tho? or is it just part of the breaking in process
