I am wondering what a grant, bargain and sale deed is. My mother's husband is who got this. He abandoned his family and never returned but signed this particular deed for a house years before. In the divorce decree, the decree states that he signed this deed, and in doing so, "released any community property" and that his wife who was divorcing him at the time, was entitled to the house. Does this mean he signed the ownership to the house away? He signed it over to his wife at the time, who is now his ex. I know he had a failed business that he never paid taxes on, I'm thinking he may have done this to avoid the IRS seizing the property, but I don't know. This occured in the state of Nevada. Anyone have any knowledge about this particular deed?
