Anyone know any book recommendations?(fiction only)?

-We have to read a book for English and the apparently the one I checked out, I didn't like
-The book also has to be by an American author
-Books I have enjoyed was the Full Moon Rising series by Keri Arthur and I read Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, but unfortunately they're Australian and Canadian
-I also asked if a person was an American author if she lived in America all her life then moved to someplace else. The teacher said no - which is really stupid

and I already read the Twilight and Harry Potter series, haha. I'm talking Junior (high school) English
Edit: Please restrict the book recommendation to fantasy fiction- hence the books I've read, Bitten and the Full Moon Rising series.
