Hi! I recently bought a used 1996 honda accord lx (4 dr sedan, 25th anniversary edition) and I took it to a mechanic because I my check engine light was on. It turns out that the wrong ECM was programmed in my car, but somehow it is still running, but not smoothly. The place that I took it to said that the only way to fix it would be by removing the ECM, shipping it back to Honda, and then they reprogram it and reinstall it. The chip to be reprogrammed would be 400 while the service would be 200 (which I dont have since i'm broke lol). Is there any way that I could just buy a new ECM and pay someone to install it? If anyone could help me I would be so thankful! And please give me as much detail on what type of ECM or where to get it or anything. Thanks so much
