My son is 17 and just graduated high school. He wants to go in the national guard. We have been to talk to a recruiter and he has started the paper work to go in. Naturally as a mom I am worried about this. He has been promised great educational opportunities. I know my son could use the discipline and confidence that he will get from this. My question is for anybody that is in. Are they really telling the truth when they say once he gets through basic training and his MOS school they will pay 100% of his college if he wants to go. His recruiter said that he can go to college when he gets done and it will be covered except maybe books. That between the GI bill and other benefits that he will get he would bring home about $1100 a month while in school full time. Anybody out there tell me some good stuff so that my mind can rest a little and not worry so much about him doing this. Also his MOS would be interrogator, what do you think of this? Recruiter said he would be a shoo in for a federal job once he got out.
