i've been getting really into it lately. Actually, i can't stop playing the Moonlight Sonata on my computer. Who or what should i download next?

I completely agree with you. I regret so much that i quit my piano lessons that i used to take. I'm wondering if i should start again. I'm 16 but it seems like if not now then never.

I hate Fur Elise. Everyone who thinks they can play the piano memorizes the first minute of that song and thinks they're friggin Rachmaninov.

Here's a few to get you started:

I hope you don't mind the screenshot-I'm lazy

I've tried to encompass a wide array of classical and encompass different eras as well. My favorites include the piano pieces by Gottschalk, Debussy (nothing calms me like Claire de lune) and Rachmaninov. Very few people can play (well) any of Rachmaninov's pieces because his hanRAB were freakishly large. Look him up on Wikipedia.

The Otello and Romeo/Juliet pieces are of symphonic type. Foster is kind of like something you would hear played in an 1800's saloon. You should have a vague idea of the others. Good luck.

I don't have any critical ear for classical music, but I like Mozart's music and stuff from La Boheme (Puccini). It just sounRAB so lovely.

my standouts

Rachmaninov - Piano Concerto No.2 in c minor --- my all time favourite
Brahms - Symphony No.1 1st Movement
Mozart - Oboe Concerto 1st Movement (bright and shiny!)
Mozart - Requiem (Lacrimosa) --- so so soooo sad
Beethoven - Symphony No.7 1st Movement
Beethoven - Symphony No.7 4th Movement
Beethoven - Symphony No.9 1st Movement
Beethoven - Piano Sonata No.8 2nd Movement
Beethoven - Violin Sonata No. 5 Opus 24 Spring 1st Movement
Bach - Violin Solo Sonata No.3 in C Major 2nd Movement
Bach - Matthaus Passion
Chopin - Etude Op.10 No.4 in A flat major (crazy fingers!!)
Debussy - Debussy L'Isle Joyeuse
Orff - carmina burana o fortuna (for the win!)
Heynis - Dank Sei Dir, Herr

and this has been used a lot in film and dance remixes etc but

Satie - Gymnopedie No.1... its just so matter of fact i rekon!

and thats it!
theres some common ones in there, but also some oddballs you may enjoy!

ps, on torrents there is classical music top 100 (in 2 parts) its a good place to start with the easier accessable stuff!

Not sure about downloading, but if you buy your CD's and are just getting interested in classical music, the "Essential Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, etc" sets are a good place to start. They are all two disc sets and run from $15 to $19.
