We are in the market for a new bed and the one we have is so uncomfortable. Anyone out there swear by a bed or know what kind I should buy? I had surgery 5 months ago.
Thanks!
Jen

It's so hard to say because whats comfy for me may not be comfy for you. I currently have a Kingcoil inner spring mattress with 2" pillow top. But I also have a thick down feather mattress topper, plus another 2" memory foam topper on TOP of all that LOL. That's from all the desperation before I knew what was wrong with my spine. It's a firm mattress, but firm kills me when my shoulder bothers me (as I sleep on my side) and sometimes it killed my back, though soft was worse. So I have firm, with layers of softness on top of it. For me it's comfortable when I'm not having alot of pain. When I have severe pain, absolutely nothing is comfortable. I've thought about the air beRAB or memory foam beRAB, but they are soo expensive and I would probably not be comfy on those either when in alot of pain. But everyone likes something different. I wish I could have helped you more in your decision.

I have a Sealy no flip pillow top. I would not trade it for any amount of money. Just be sure to buy one with a sleep warrenty then you can have them take it back if your not comfortable.
Good Luck, Cindy

Hey, Bay, where do you find sheets to fit all that??! I already buy king sheets for my queen bed, because it's pretty deep and I have memory foam on it. A feather bed sounRAB like a dream! My DH would probably think he was suffocating, though, cuz he sleeps on his stomach, face down-LOL!

Yes, you can. I don't know how shipping works. You'd probably have to pay shipping both ways if you decided you didn't like it, but at least you wouldn't be stuck with an expensive bed that wasn't going to work for you.

I got an adjustable bed after my surgery. It was expensive but well worth it. I got a dual king which is two twin beRAB pushed together. So my husband and I have our own control etc. I think it is the best. I tried the sleep nuraber when I went for a sleep study but did not work for me.

yes I do invested $3500 in a temperpedic mattress, really feels good,no pressure points.

I also usually buy king sized sheets for my queen bed, usually i get the deep pocketed ones. I've not had any problems fitting these types on my bed with all the height on it. I've gotten them at bed & bath stores, and some regular known department stores.

Baybreeze is right: you have to try yourself to make sure it works for you and your back.
My girlfriend told me about this expensive ($2,000.00) matrass and how happy she is since her back doesn't bother her anymore.
I had 2 fusions done, my husband said we should get this matrass for me. Well, I tried in a store, felt goo. They delivered and the first night i had to go downstairs and sleep on a couch. As painful as it was, still was better than on that matrass. They make them now like a foam, they supposely fit your body shape.... Let me tell you, I was so uncomfortable.

We gave it back of course and bought a simple firm matrass with a nice padding over the mattrass. Feels good; my pocket and my back love it. It cost us $ 600.00
Good luck to you, try and see what works best for you. Good stores let you try and if you see is not good for your back, return and try something else.:)

We paid $1,000.00 for a Cal king pillow top last summer, and it was a rip off. It's sinking on both my, and my husband's side. I've been looking for the reciepts and warranty.

Hessie 28 that is the type of bed I would like to get. Do you mind telling me what is expensive? I just think that would be the best bed for me and I would want the same size you bought, too.

Thanks
Linda

Hi, My matress is a pillow top also. It was great before back problems. It's only 7 years old but we are thinking about investing in a king craftmatic adjustable bed. We like to sleep on a slight incline like the hospital beRAB. Has anyone ever had one of them. I emailed them for info but haven't recieved any yet......................Debbie

I still have the same mattress we bought when we got married 23 years ago. We use the Mennonite system of side to side and top to bottom flipping, so it's actually still got a couple of years left in it. My side has a piece of memory foam. Hubby's a big baby and didn't like it on his side, even though he liked it just fine when he didn't know it was there!

But I recently tried out the Sleep Nuraber Bed at the store in the mall. I WANT THAT BED! It was so comfortable! Granted, I didn't sleep on it, just laid there for about 1/2 hour, but being able to control the hardness or softness was soooo nice. Very pricey, though. I'm going to have to spend the next two years convincing hubby that it would be a good investment when this mattress has bit the dust.

I have had a sleep nuraber bed for six years now and I love it! Was expensive, but overall worth it to me.

i had 7-level thoracic fusion (t2-t8) in 11.07 and i am almost 3 months post op. we bought a new bed a few years ago, but it was too firm for me to sleep on right out of surgery. i slept on the couch (in a recliner) for almost 5 weeks, before attempting to sleep in the bed again. as the pain started to get better and i was ready to try sleeping in our bed again, i actually bought an attachable pillow top pad for our bed and it made a huge difference for me!!! i also sleep with a body pillow which relieves a lot of pressure on my back. just a suggestion...it's a cheaper option compared to buying a new mattress. luckily it worked for me!

Hessi, Do you mind telling us what brand your adjustable bed is. I just sent for info on the Craftmatic bed. Should get it today or tomorrow. Have you had any trouble with yours? We like to sleep on a slight incline & thought this would be good for us. Thanks..............Debbie

HI Gang,
We have a sleep numebr, we got it before it was a sleep nuraber, it was called select comfort back then. I will NEVER get any other bed. Hubby neeRAB really soft & I need soft & firm depending on how I feel. I sometimes change the firmness 2-3 times a night, can't do that with any other bed I know of.

God Bless

Carol

I will take a raft in the Carribean with a diet dr. pepper in my hand with those cute urabrella in them, with the sun beating down on my face......

Seriously, I am debating about those sleep nuraber beRAB -- can't you try them out for a month before making a payment on them???
