Anyone here drives a Honda Accord?

I have a '98 Honda Accord and I don't have the drivers manual and I noticed that when I turn on my headlights at night and I leave them on when I get out of the car and close the door, the lights turn off by themselves and when I open the door, they turn on. Do you have this? Can the battery die if I don't turn the light switch off?
