I woke up this morning and my left side of my neck was hurting. The back left side of my head to the front of my eye hurts as well. When I would turn my head to the right or down I get a weird feeling behind my head and then I get a funny taste in my mouth. It also goes in between the clavicle and shoulder area and down to the part of my back. I have no idea what is going on.
Hello, Idreamofsilence . . . you may have either slept wrong or did something to strain your neck and shoulder muscles.
I have osteoarthritis of the neck and shoulders with pinched nerve already but lifted something heavy a few weeks ago and started getting symptoms I had not had before. I equated it to a whiplash injury I had when I was very young with pain up the side of the face, dizziness, headache and pain extending all the way to the bottom of the shoulder blade.
I am still suffering some of the symptoms from that strain, but they are getting better. Rest, take a deep breath and try to relax, and if it does not go away or start getting better, see a physician. You may want to try heat or ice, but so far that has not worked for me. Even my Tylenol is not really doing much but give it a go as we are all different!
Thanks! I am going to the doc tomorrow so if it is still bothering me I will just mention it to him. Im sorry to hear about the osteoarthritis. I thought mine may be related to the anxiety or the actual physical problem is just making my anxiety worse.
Believe me. Actual physical problems can make your anxiety worse and the other way around!
I stood over a counter today making out Christmas carRAB (between 30 and 40 we do every year) and the strain on my neck and shoulders, not to mention my arms and hanRAB as well as standing for so long, made me feel anxious just because of the discomfort and the worrying that with my husband gone, I was either going to collapse, something was going to lock and I would be paralyzed or the dizziness would cause me to fall and do some serious damage.
Physical problems really can bounce off of anxiety. I have found often times the anxiety will actually make sensitive muscles and joints tense up more, and therefore make things hurt more.
You are not alone in that aspect! There are many of us here that have those problems.
Thank you for your concern and I send good thoughts to you for healing your neck quickly.
Yes, I know I definitely have the anxiety that tricks me into thinking I have all these physical symptoms as well but they aren't really there and then I focus on them and then my anxiety gets worse. I noticed that my body stiffens up in areas too when my anxiety gets bad. Horrible isn't it! I will let you know the situation with the doctor tomorrow. Thanks for your concern!
