Anyone have any suggestions on bright colored shoaling fish?

I am currently looking for a type of brightly colored shoaling fish to put in my 10 gallon tank when its finished cycling.

I plan to keep a male and female pair of either dwarf gouramis or sparkling gouramis and a small group of shoaling fish.

It needs to be:

-a good community fish
-peaceful and non-nipping
-2 inches or less in length
-hardy or easy to maintain
-colorful or bright

*I have already considered the neon tetra and decided against it due to personal reasons
**looking for answers from experienced fish keepers
** don't like the idea of the dwarf rainbows but thanks, from what I've heard and read they can be fin nippers
***Celestial Pearl Danios were on my first list of fish, but I was unsure of them. They're absolutely beautiful. I'm a little bit of a beginner with fish. I've only cared for gouramis in the past. My original list consisted of:
- 2 Dwarf Gouramis (1 male 1 female)
- 5 Celestial Pearl Danios
- and a Panda Cory/ a few Pygmy Corys

- -the Dwarf Gouramis are a deffinate I think, I absolutely love Gouramis. However I am unsure about the other fish. I'm continuously looking for other options.
** =) thank you for the word of warning, I've heard of that also, which is why I'm still debating on whether or not I'm getting Sparkling Gouramis or Dwarf Gouramis. I would certainly rather have healthy fish. New list:
-2/3 Sparkling Gouramis ( 1 male and 1 or 2 females)
-5 Celestial Pearl Danios
-2 Panda Cory/ a few Pygmy Corys (unsure on those also)
