My girlfriend's 1986 Ford Bronco (full-size) with a 351W V8 (carbureted) is having a really weird idle issue. I have been a mechanic for 10 years and have never seen anything like this before. One night my girlfriend, sister, and I went to go get something to eat. I started up the Bronco and it ran fine. It idled at around 700 RPM just as I had set it. We had traveled no more than 1/4 mile when I sensed there was an issue with the gas pedal. I shifted into neutral and the idle shot up to around 2400 RPM. It has been doing this every time I start it ever since that night. I have checked the vacuum hoses, checked and adjusted the throttle linkage, checked the PCV valve, blipped the throttle while its warm, and even hammered lightly on the carb itself!!! NOTHING WORKS!! I need some advice as to what might be malfunctioning. I hope its something cheap and I'm just overlooking it. I'll be checking my email constantly lol. Thanks!!!
