Anyone have any experience with a significant other being away at boot camp?

My boyfriend is getting ready to graduate Marine boot camp from Parris Island, and he left the beginning of November, so obviously it's been a while since we've talked in person. I usually get at least one letter a week, but for some reason this last month has seemed so much harder than the first 2.. i don't know why, i thought it was bad enough when he first left, but it's gotten so much worse since we've gotten down to the last few weeks. Like I just feel really doubtful and afraid we won't work out because we didn't know each other for even 2 months before he left.. so I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with this and felt the same way and if it was normal, or am I just having a bad feeling for a reason. It's hard trying to figure what someone else is thinking, when you don't get to talk to them in person.. :( Any advice is appreciated!

It's been harder because he's been away for so long. That's what you get when you date somebody in the service, but if you make the sacrifice for him, he'll appreciate you very much, because it shows how strong you are. He'll be the same person when he gets back from Boot Camp. Spend as much time with him as you can, but if in the long run, things just don't work out, then things don't work out. It's hard being in a relationship with somebody who is away for months or even years at a time.

If it helps...me and my husband started dating 2 weeks before he depoyed to Iraq when he was in the Marines...i waited a whole year, focused on school, work, and waited until he came back, If you really like him you are going to wait...i know its hard, when he went to his 2nd deployment,it was so hard for me because i was emotionally attached to him,but of course i still had patience and waited for him until he came back...he got out of the Marines and well now we're married,he's in the Army Reserves now and is going to deploy in July again...and we are still stronger than ever...lifes funny and all this waiting has been so worth it..
