2000 Ford Contour SE 4 cylinder ABS -- front wheel drive... if coming to a stop the left side starts to vibrate like if I have a flat tire or warped rotor. I hear something grinding in the front during normal driving on the street/ freeway and if I go above 60 mph it starts to vibrate on the front left side of the car, the steering wheel shakes & sometimes makes the whole car vibrate...
If the wheel is turned all the way left and I drive -- it makes this grinding metal vs.metal, or cranking (kinda loud)
I was told it could be the hub assembly - At Autozone & O'Reily auto parts they only have the hub assembly for the rear wheels, Why? My car is front wheel drive....Is it the hub assembly that's messed up or is it something else? trying to get a better idea of what it could be... I did have an accident where I was hit on that front left side by a Toyota sequoia, I didn't really notice this problem until later on...I had the rotors resurfaced, replace the wheel bearing and cv half shaft with new parts...replacing the cv made the vibration/grinding noise more noticeable....I want to get this fixed before the wheel locks up or goes flying off the car on the freeway, Plz. no smart or crazy answers - someone told me to lift up the car and go up to 60 to see where the problem is or drive around someone in a parking lot...
I have changed the
tires with new tires, resurface rotors - brake pads, motor mounts, transmission mounts all replaced with new parts.
Last time I went to a ford Dealer, They didn't test drive the vehicle, just took the keys and take it in the garage....they were guessing that it could be a motor or transmission mount and wanted to charge me $2,500 to fix it, they also wanted me to take out a credit card with them.
