I do agree with this: The baby boomer mentality that constantly embraces change for the sake of change, and systematically destroys every societal construct that has been in place for many generations before them -- the very same constructs that made it possible for them to HAVE the options that they have -- is actually destroying those opportunities and options for future generations.
The "hippies" were able to explore their free love, do nothing, get high and drop out experiment by living off the financial security provided by their parents. Once their parents money dried up, they suddenly found themselves unable to sustain that lifestyle, and overnight, they realized they had to become the very corporate industrial leaders they once claimed to despise.
And this eventual reality occurs with everything they've done, whether it's teaching young children about sex at an early age (resulting in kids who see no stigma with becoming pregnant at 16), time out approaches to discipline (resulting in generations that have no respect for themselves or others), free and open abortion (resulting in a diminished respect for the value of human life, so kids think nothing of killing other kids), the rise in divorce as commonplace (destroying the concept of family and creating generations of children with cynical attitudes towards commitment and love), etc.
And now they continue to do the same with government. And, as with everything else they have done, it will also fail, and they will continue to leave a wake of ruin and destruction in their path.
The baby boomers have become the very "man" they once claimed to despise, wanting to control people's lives, dictate right and wrong, and force everyone to obey their singular way of thinking. If you look at old footage of hippie revolutionary protests, it's bizarre to see the posters and phrases that they used, since most of those phrases are now appearing at tea party rallies protesting the leftist government instead. If anything, today's equivalent of the hippies are actually the Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh conservatives!
Yes, this can all be credited to the baby boomer's sexual revolution. It made men afraid to speak out for fear of being labelled as sexist, and their revolution continue by then labelling others as bigots and then homophobes. They label everyone that they despise, obliterating all opposition to their singular thought, more efficiently that a Nazi propaganda machine ever could. It is the labelling of the Jews as vermin, times a thousand. And it has succeeded. Anyone who stands in their way is called a "denier".
The soul of our nation is one of shared ideas and a melting pot of cultures, unified by the common belief that, first and above all things, we are Americans.
The election of Obama is a fitting conclusion to the measured and specifically architected destruction of that concept. Their ideas are narrow minded, there is no debate nor discussion allowed, the cultures are balkanized, and the spirit of a united America is dwindling.
The real question is, will the hippies of today, the Conservative Counterrevolution, eventually rise up and declare that it's had enough, and rebuild and restore America to its former glory? Or, if they simply wait until the baby boomers finally die off en masse, will it be too late?
