Anyone for a "Chinese"

O.K, I plead common usage for the slightly non-PC title. But you may (seriously!) NOT have wanted to eat much of anything, after you watched Hong Kong (1994) film "Dumplings" (Dir: Fruit Chan) Film4, early Tuesday morning. ;)

Billed as a "Black Comedy" - But a remarkable and unique horror film? About the only one I found "disturbing", since first seeing the "Texas Chain Saw Massacre". Whereas the latter lost it's impact with additional / TV viewings, I sense "Dumplings" may not! Indeed, one "serving" may be sufficient for my appetite for quite a while... :p

As a big Asian film nut, I couldn't pass this up when it was on as i had heard so much about it, so i taped it and watched it yesterday.

It was a decent film (Not seen the Three Extremes version so i'm going from my view of the film) but the gross out stuff didn't affect me, the only scene that was slightly disturbing for me was the abortion scene.

Maybe i've built up a resistance to the Asian film shocks after seeing so many?

For me i still find 'Audition' by Miike to be one of the most disturbing films i've seen, which is one of the reason it's one of my favourite films.

Yes, I watched this film a couple of months ago. For me the horror of the film is the 'normality' of the situation. The way the woman just goes about her buisness like she has obviously done for years, not really caring about the 'ingredients' of the dumplings or the people who eat the food.

I do love a good Asian Horror flick.

There's also various other movies like Human Pork Chop, Raped by an Angel, Red to Kill and Dr Lamb amongst many others for those of you who don't mind indulging in a bit of weird cinema.
