Anyone else noticing this trend in Christians?

My wife still claims to be "Christian." Yet most christians wouldn't consider her one. She's pretty liberal, and often open to the idea that "more than one religion can be right." See she has a deep embedded conflict. She's too emotionally intelligent to believe that a loving God is cruel enough to send 70% of the world to eternal torture, yet she's too scared to completely drop her "christian" title. I notice this a lot in "Educated" Christians. It's like they know the bible is mainly backwards mumbo jumbo yet they're scared to drop their title. Maybe it's fear of persecution from their peers and family? Or maybe a part of them still believes that their soul is in jeopardy? What do you guy's think?
I said "Mainly mumbo jumbo" (not a word I would ever use in conversation btw lol) I unlike you am not foolish enough to make an ultimate statement. NOTHING in the bible is mumbo jumbo? Really? By who's standards?
