Anyone else having trouble...?

I received a picture message last Friday, but up until now I haven't been able to actually view the photo! It says "could not retrieve message, try again later". I've been hitting the "retrieve now" option but with no luck! I called Rogers and they said that even though I no longer have a data plan I should still be able to receive picture messages, and that probably it's because the weather's so cold (I'm in Ottawa and we've been well into the negative 20s for some time now). Has this ever happened to anyone else?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ no, that sounds like bs to me. Have them send it as an email attachment to the account you have registered with your blackberry. That's what I do. I can't get multimedia messages either, but I have t mobile in the us. Hope that sort of helps, later.

Now that you don't have a data plan you probably don't have any mms service books, so you can receive the message but not download the picture.

Not sure of any way to get service books without data plan if you anyone know?

I would like to know also as my wife if using a BB without data.
 
~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~with no data no pics or videos will be received, I had a problem with mine I have a data plan on my berry but when I received a video it would be grainy and the sound a video wouldn't flow together, they refreshed all my books and it still didn't work. I was transferd directly to RIM were I was told that when someone sends you a pic or vid its considerd streaming from the net until you save it to you memory card. So to let you know with no data all you have is a phone that can txt
 
Just a heads-up that I am a newbie so anything ridiculous or completely wrong I may say cannot be held against me :P
Anyways, I started out with a data plan, so I have service books... I checked the Rogers MMS [WAP] and it says active. Do you need a data plan to get MMSs on a BB? I mean, I've had other cellphones before (non-BBs of course) and I was always able to receive picture msgs just fine. The CSR even told me "you should still be able to send and receive MMS... recieved are free and sent are 50 cents each, etc"
I haven't gotten any MMSs since then so I don't know if it was just a fluke or an ongoing thing though.
 
I'm a Tmobile user and this happens to me too. Have you tried turning off the wireless and turning it back on? 100% of the time that has worked for me...hope it helps!

The CSR you spoke to didn't know what he was speaking about....
Without a data plan you can't received any MMS only SMS and there's really no way to make it work other way...

I'm 99% sure without a dataplan your out of luck, I don't think there's anyway around it.I'm only a level 2 stacker but I felt like I've learned enough to be sure but,wait until one of the super stackers answers to be sure.
 
Normally without a data plan it does disable your mms functions. Try sending an mms from you to yourself. If it allows you to send the image and receive the image then its a possible for your mms to still work but I highly doubtit~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~
