My general symptoms that I have a good deal of the time is as following.

-Ear popping/"raw feeling" inside my head.
-Post nasal drip
-Occasional sore throat when things are bad.
-Sore neck down the sides.
-Headache from the ear irritation
-When I eat regardless of what I eat, I cough up a huge wad of mucus and have to blow my nose after. This usually passes in about 5-10 min after eating.
-My nose is usually dry (take veramyst and astelin for allergy stuff).
-No heartburn at all.
-I have a family history of reflux as well (Dad and Grandfather both had/have it)

I took Acidphex for 2 weeks and it did nothing, but recently went to my current ENT who wanted to revisit the GERD saying 2 weeks wasn't enough time to give it and put me on Nexium for the next 3 months.

I am just wondering if anyone else has had the same symptoms and it turned out to be GERD.

TIA,
Jason

I think you may have two separate problems here. Sometimes food can react with the mucous merabranes and open things up. The reflux is a whole different problem. May be a food allergy. Most common is milk, after that eggs, citrus, wheat. Go off each for 3 days and see if it makes a change. If not, go to the next one. It's something to try that doesn't cost anything. Also, most sinus/ear problems are helped by drinking copious amounts of water- which thins the mucous and helps it move like it should.

Be sure the Probiotic you're taking is a good one. There are so many out there. It should have a very high count (in the billions) per capsule.

It sounRAB very familiar. The two weeks was not long enough, I agree. I amcoming to the end of my 3 month perscription and I'm not totally heald yet.

jlgaustin: I have most of these symptoms! Don't get ear infections, but they "pop" all the time and even itch and burn, I swear its the acid in my ears...and I also don't get neck pains, but have pretty much all the other things you described!

I didn't know I had GERD until I went to a different allergist about two years ago. Then he sent me to a GI Dr. I too get a bunch of nasty mucus in my throat after eating and also if I go too long w/out food too, its like my stomach gets mad and throws the acid out there, waiting for the food if I'm hungry. It is miserable! I don't recall having all this until recently. I was on Nexium for over a year. Didn't notice any help until they upped me to two pills (80 mg total) a day. I did then notice it but then I got pregnant and my ob gyn wanted me off those pills and stopping cold turkey was rough! Apparently it was doing something for me because my throat started burning and my reflux got wayyy worse along w/ my allergies when I stopped the medication. Scary.

I am thinking it is more of an ear/nose/throat issue. Maybe your sinuses not functioning properly. I would go and see an ENT specialist.
