I'm a college student. I can't afford a parking permit (which is $400), so typically I park really far away and walk to campus. That went fine all last semester.
Today, I had to drop something off at the college library. So I parked in a spot at the apartment complex next door. Yes, they had tow signs posted. Yes, it was my fault. But I went in to drop off a book and come back out.
When I got in the library, I got ill. I get optical migraines, that restrict my eyesight,make my legs go numb, and if i can't get my meds in time..Throw up. My meds are simple though--just a tylenol and a aleve effect both nervous systems and get rid of the migraine before the bad part starts. I dug through my pack. The tylenol was empty. I asked at the library desk, she yelled "WE DON'T GIVE OUT DRUGS!" and wouldnt give me a tylenol. I went up to the deans office in on the second floor of the library, and they couldn’t find any either. So I GOT ILL. Threw up in the bathroom for a half hour. When I went back outside, my truck was gone. Called the tow company, and it had just arrived back at their lot. Apparently the apartment cmplex were waiting for me and the second I got out called.
I had another class, at the community college miles away. I called my brother, who was ACTUALLY at the community college. He wouldn’t answer his phone. He literally was within ¼ mile of me, and drove all the way home. So I was like screw you. Called my mom, whos a stay at home mommy with my sisters, and she wouldn’t answer. I WOULD NOT call my dad, who woulda come got me, screamed at me and called me a bitch and yelled at me I told you so. SO…I had to walk several miles to get there. With my 35 pound (no joke) backpack. I showed up at class 25 minutes late. Teacher stopped class, pointed me out and wanted me to sing. Even though I was covered in a sheet of sweat, shivering, and my nose wouldn’t stop running.
After class the tow company came and got me and took me to get my truck. It $180. That's alot for a college kid, even though I work.
I've checked it all over. Apparently, they towed it on the ground, with the two back tires on the road. They unlocked the hubs first, but other than that..MY TRUCK IS A 4x4 Ford Bronco. And it was in park. And the parking brake was on. Nothing feels off. I'm just really scared..COULD ANYTHING HAVE GOTTEN DAMAGED? IT GOT TOWED 12 MILES OR SO. A bit on the highway.
