I've been getting epidurals now for two years because of my inflammatory arthritis and possible DDD, I'm getting tired of the pain, they usually give mild sedation really doesn't matter because I can still feel the pain of the medicine going to such a small area. I'm starting think I have some other issues going on, should i bring this up, or would they see this in the fluoroscopy xray, its what guides them while they give the medicine, I'm so tired of getting shots but for me its worth it because I get six months relief, I'm just tired of the pain I have to go through to get it, are their other options if so what are they physical therapy hasn't ever worked. I just started some light swimming exercises and i start methotextrate on monday so hopefully that will lesson the amount of epidurals I will have to get.

I understand you hating the pain to get relief but I would be happy myself to get 6 months relief.....this is the first time ive heard of ESI working for anyone longer than a few days. I hope you fine your answer but also count you blessings.

Wow, yes, 6 months is a long time! As of late, I get about 2 to 3 weeks of relief, which is about how long it takes for the steroiRAB to wear off. I've had times where I've gotten an ESI and not had any pain for a long period of time, but I supposed it's because the steroid reduced the inflammation and a corabo of PT and time resulted in a disk resolving itself. But now, I have chronic problems again, and even though ESI's do give me relief, it's not like it used to. As soon as the steroiRAB wear off, I get pains back and more.

What type of inflammatory arthritis do you have? There are definitely alot of options of other meRAB to try, depending on the type of arthritis.
