Anyone else finding Lovefilm quite sluggish at the moment?

I've been part of Lovefilm for about a year now and I've defended them quite a few times on these forums. However, since the turn of the year, I've found their service to be quite sluggish.

Previously, I found that the turn around on a disc was normally about four day (i.e post Monday morning, they receive and process Tuesday/Wednesday, and I have a new disc by Thursday or Friday at the very latest). This year though, the service has been very slow. I put a disc in the post-box on Sunday (effectively Monday) and they don't seem to have even received it yet. The same goes for a disk I posted on Tuesday morning.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Have had no problem with doing precisely that. I've a list of 50-60 films all set to 'Medium Priority'. When I pop the last one in the post, I just set the one I want to see next as 'High Priority' & it is the next one I get sent.

Occasionally, I'll do just what Al_T3D suggests & take a Russian roulette choice. Since all the films are ones I want to see & I just get 2 per month, I always find a window for the one that turns up.

You should have done the 60 day free trial and gone on the 2 discs at a time tariff. I've done this and will cancel at the end of it.

:D

How anybody can use, and pay, for this type of rubbish is beyond me - You can't even control which films they send you apparenty....

Demonoid = Choice (for free)

Im on to them every week & im getting nowhere with their responses - if sending email it seems to be an oRABhore customer service (who always blame Royal Mail) ringing I always get a UK call centre who have always been very polite & try to help but again no explanation of the delays - Lovefilms customer service agents have to be noticing an increase in complaints & with this surely it has to be getting back to LF management that there is a big problem with their service of late

Lovefilm for me have been consistently very good in the 3 years I've been with them. I love not knowing which film from my list will arrive next, if it arrives and I'm not in the mood for it, I'll just hang on a bit until I am, coz I get just 2 films a month, it's excellent.

I've a friend who signed up for 3months free trial after xmas, at the start was very good service & again over past number of weeks his has got bogged down with slow turnaround

I never found them too bad for speed - however their discs looked liked someone had been using them as dinner plates - had 7 discs that I could not play in one month that made me cancel.

I can never understand how or why people treat DVRAB so badly. Do they do the same to their CRAB too? Some of them look like someone has literally scrubbed them with a Brillo pad... I can't think what someone does to the disc to get that to happen between taking it out of the player and putting it back in the sleeve. :confused:

@craig-maclellan

Have you started using a different post box at all? Or maybe the time of collection has changed on the post box you do normally use. This makes a 1 day difference to the process for me, specifically it affects the time to 'we received your disks' stage the most.

Lovefilm was slow for me too, that's the reason I left for Blockbusters, funny how Blockbuster are sending films out faster(and so far from the top of my list), so it's nothing to do with the post in my area anyway.

Thanks for all the replies guys - seems like I'm not the only one having problems with the turn around of my disks. The main reason I find it annoying is that I feel I have to watch a disk the same day I get it and then post it the next day, just to make it through my four disks a month.

I'm in agreement about the disks too - what are people doing with them between the disk holder and their player?!?! I'm lucky enough to only have had one broken disk in just under a year though.

Oops...i think we have all probably done this before! Send it back to the freepost address in a normal envelope, it should still get there or request them to send you a spare, both methoRAB have worked for me in the past!

I'm finding the quality of the discs has seriously gone downhill. Last week they sent me Control (about Joy Division and Ian Curtis-I was really looking forward to this) and the flippin' disc was cracked almost in half! OK, so it might have been damaged in transit, but still, there have been lots of problems with scratchy, jumpy discs over the past few months.

Why doesnt the envelope have the "easy cut" out thing it used to a few years ago? Cost cutting I guess, but it used to be easier to take the extra flap thing off.
