Anybody knows about a young film composition student who ended up like a jazz musician?

I heard of him in the radio but I don't know his name. In London, a young student of films was making his own movie, and when he composed the soundtrack, he noticed it was really good and started playing in bars and even he recorded a CD by his own. Then a recording agency discovered him and now he's a famous jazz musician. Anybody knows about him?
