anybody know much about rune stones and their powers?

my partner and i are trying to conceive with no luck so far and today my mother gave me something out of a magazine about runes stones. there was one particular picture of a rune stone to do with new beginnings and fertility. it says to put it under your pillow whilst trying to conceive (!!) im going to try it as we have nothing to lose but does anybody actually believe in the power of the rune stones? any personal experiences? x
