In the past 7 years I've had 3 back surgeries, all in the lurabar, and each one for different things. Looks like I may be looking at no. 4, and the reaction I get every time it's mentioned is, "Nobody ever has just one back surgery."

Anybody? And how long ago was that?

Yes, I know that spine surgery compromises the levels above, and my first one was an L5-S1 fusion. Just wondering.

My husband had a laminectomy and never needed another surgery for 23 years before his death.

I hope this will be your last time. I know that in my case, I had 2 lami's followed by fusion at L5-S1, another fusion at L4-5, and now am headed for my 7th lurabar surgery. This time for spinal canal stenosis, bone spurs, and spondylolithesis.

Keep in mind that there are many people who have "just one" but you won't find them on forums or other back boarRAB because their surgeries were successful. More of them than there are of us, tho sometimes it is hard to believe.

I wish you the very best on your upcoming surgery.

You're right, Carol. The success stories are getting ready for cruises and ski trips. I have/had a cruise planned for Noveraber, but I'm really glad I bought the trip insurance because there's no way I can go on a cruise and have a good time.

Wishing you the best with your next surgery and take care.
