Any way to speed up e62?

I replaced my dying treo with the e62 and I want to like the phone. Reception is fantastic, call quality is the best I've heard from any phone before, too bad the phone is just dog slow at everything UI related. It shouldn't take 5 seconds to open my calendar or scroll slowly through my contacts as i'm trying to set an appointment.

Is there any way I can speed up this phone or is it just a turd? i'm within my 30 days with cingular and can take it back if need be.
