from on a 2001 volvo 770 truck? This is a 18 wheeler--we have a detroit 60 series--and when going down the road there is a low rattling noise (I guess thats how you would describe it. you here it when the transmission has had time to warm up. its louder when you slow down. when you hit a bump in the road it goes away for a little bit or when you are in reverse. we know there is a worn motor mount-- could this be cause of the noise or could it be a bearing. (this is the info I have got from my husband and thought I would ask -- any suggestions?
ok my husband says its more like a roar that a rattle--like a bearing-could it be the bad transmission mount be magnifying the transmission noise

I AM A 23YR DIESEL MECH BUT, NEED A LITTLE MORE INFO! SOUNDS LIKE CLUTCH CHATTER ANYWAY'S E-MAIL MORE! RECENT WORK, AGE OF TRUCK, DOES IT HAVE P.T.O, POWER LOSS AND ETC.******************** UPDATE***** IS THERE PROPER 90W OIL IN THE TRANS UP TO THE FILLER HOLE?

this could be anything .. even the jacks that raise the body.. the transmision linkage parts of the power stearing.. i think if you get under the truck with a rubber mallet tapping on everything that duplicates road bumps you might isolate the noise..
