try a side angle, Never take a picture by holding the camera right in front of your face. It might look ok for you, but for me and most people I know it's awful. Don't do the bottom up angle, it will make you look fat. You could try a high angle, but try not to take a picture so high or far away from you that your arm takes up the picture.
