Any tips for Snook fishing on a canal?

I'm going to be fishing on a canal tonight off of a small dock. I would like to catch some Snook. If not, what do you think would be easier? What line or lures should I use? Is there a certain rod/reel that I should use? I just need as many tips as I can get to catch some good fish.
